A faceplate for a woodturning lathe is a metal disc that attaches directly to the lathe and is designed to hold your wooden blank in place while you turn l and shape it into the design of your choice.
Our faceplates come in a variety of sizes for you to choose from, depending on what you’re planning on crafting. Our smallest size of faceplate is 3 inches, all the way up to our heavy-duty 10 inch faceplate for large projects.
Another option would be to use a chuck, with the faceplate being used initially to turn the blank into the desired shape, and the chuck to allow you to focus on more detailed and intricate work, including shaping out the screw holes that a faceplate leaves.
