Stewart Furini Course Descriptions

This year, I am able to offer three courses at Hope Woodturning. Each course costs £150, but if you book both the Colouring and Texturing courses there is a discounted price of £250. All equipment and wood is provided but you are free to bring your own tools with you if you wish.
The Colouring and Texturing Courses are for intermediate turners who want to add embellishment to their woodturning. They will focus on decorative techniques rather than turning techniques. In both courses, there will be time to work on a final piece in the afternoon.
If you have any questions about any of the courses please contact me at stewartfurini@stewartfuriniwoodturning.co.uk Please note, that a minimum of two people are needed for each course to run.

Texturing Techniques

We’ll use a mini-angle grinder to create a range of texturing effects using Manpa cutters and mini-saw blades. If requested, the course can also include the use of rotary texturing tools and a router jig. Feel free to bring your own texturing tools if you have any. As well as texturing, we’ll look at some ways of adding colour to the textures for different effects. The afternoon will be spent on creating a final piece.

Colouring Techniques

The course covers a variety of ways of using stains and paint to create many different effects. It will cover airbrushing skills, centrifuge effects, and a range of acrylic paint effects. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to work on a finished piece using some of the colouring techniques covered earlier in the day.
